Allied International is an international distribution and marketing organization serving the aerospace, transportation and other high-technology industries. In addition, Allied engineers, designs and manufactures products for OEMs and manufactures replacement components and assemblies for end users.
Allied supports operators of various aircraft using incandescent aircrew display lighting by providing replacement lamps and new-manufacture tungsten lamp display Components, modules, sub-assemblies and even complete Control and Display Units for communications, navigation and weapons
system applications.
Replacement DT1673A & DT4502A
Incandescent Lamps
Allied International, Inc. distributes incandescent lamps for aircraft cockpit and crew station display applications. These lamps are direct replacements for those used in a wide range of avionics and mission electronics applications.
Both lamps are rated at 4.5v dc, identical in form factor and operational life ratings. The DT4502A lamp draws 23.5 ma and is approximately 20% brighter DT1673A Lamp which draws 21.5 ma. Replacement lamps distributed by Allied are new manufacture and are delivered under Allied’s quality monitoring program. They are designed to meet or exceed applicable industry standards and MIL SPECS for operating life and reliability in the challenging military aviation environment. Samples of each manufacturing lot are subjected to accelerated life-testing testing to demonstrate an average lamp live of 5,000 hours at 4.5v dc. Lamp MTBF is a minimum 1.4 million
hours .
All lamps are individually inspected for defects such as included particles, filament tails, uneven filament turns and other filament malformations. Each is then burned in or "aged" for 48 hours and checked for
output before shipping.

Replacement Incandescent Display
Components and Assemblies
To meet the needs of aircraft operators needing
replacement display components and assemblies no longer available from their original manufacturers,
Allied International, in association with IS
Precision, a division of Inertia Switch, purchased the
Wagner Lighting Display product line from Federal Mogul when the factory
in Weatherly ,PA was shut down and the Wagner TRU operation was transferred to Champion Aviation in Liberty , SC. Inertia Switch's experience in manufacturing precision miniature electromechanical components for the aerospace industry made them ideally suited to bring the Wagner displays back into production. New transmission blocks manufactured at IS Precision have been supplied for the Mirage, the Nimrod , B-747, F-16 and others.
All Allied International/ Inertia Switch display components and accessories are new, custom-manufactured to the highest quality standards and fully conforming to all original functional, reliability and environmental specifications. Displays are available in 7-, 9-and 14-segment configurations, including Wagner-designed
"special" characters.
As a source of reliable, high-quality replacements, manufactured in many cases from the original engineering drawings, Allied provides an outstanding resource to operators of aircraft and systems using incandescent displays. Maintenance and logistics managers can avoid cannibalization, loss of mission capability, loss of aircraft availability and the high costs of system replacement or modification forced by lack of spare display parts.
Although simple in appearance, segmented light pipe displays require the highest level of quality at each step of the manufacturing process to obtain the required brightness, contrast, legibility, and precision
alignment in both plane and line.
Display modules are supplied as a monolithic viewing block, often integrated with mountings and other control and switch subassemblies depending on customer requirements. The viewing blocks themselves
permit individual lamp replacement.
Each monolithic display segment consists of the lamp mounting assembly, a heat sink, a transmitting block and a molecularly bonded filter which is the viewing surface. Each monolithic viewing block is backed by a heat sink and accommodates a lamp and associated light pipe
for each display segment.
The block is then coated with the viewing surface which incorporates the critical molecularly bonded filter which attenuates incident light by absorbing both surface and internal reflections and increases the contrast between lighted and unlighted segments. Because the surface coating is of the same material as the transmitting block and tightly bonded to it, second-and
even third-surface reflections are virtually eliminated.
Each step of the manufacturing process requires extreme precision and scrupulous quality control All Allied replacement displays meet or exceed the original equipment specifications including the requirements of MIL-E-5400, MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD- 202.
Allied has acquired original engineering documentation for many displays in current use. Allied and IS Precision have also developed the capability to reverse engineer and manufacture complete assemblies and even CDUs to meet customer requirements for custom and special purpose displays. Even complex CDUs, ready to install, can be produced with a
surprisingly short lead time.
