- Honeywell LMB fans are fully compliant with the MIL-STD-810E for environmental conditions including operating temperature range, sand and dust, salt spray, etc with numerous current aircraft and military ground vehicle applications. Many of the LMB fans, particularly the electronics cooling brushless 28 VDC fans are drop in form fit and function replacements. US customers who have discovered LMB include: Rockwell Collins, Northrop Grumman, Goodrich, ACME, Draper Labs,L3-COM, BAe Systems,SAIC, and Boeing,

- Eurofarad capacitors are used in many defense electronic applications such as fly by wire, travelling wave tube and flight computers.High voltage HT series capacitors are used for radars.
- Firadec is one of only two actual manufacturers of wet tantalum capacitors left.One major new application is the CTC21 solid tantalum low ESR capacitor is in an active radar with 2 capacitors per cell
- Abeillon supplies antenna mounts, ground combat vehicle interior computer display mounts up to 8 KGS, maplights complete with LED lights for fighter aircraft cockpits and ground combat vehicle interiors, infantry headset microphone goosenecks, manpack tape antennas and goosenecks.
- Chambrelan slides are used for electronics racks for military aircraft, shipboard, and ground vehicle applications.
- SIC-SAFCO aluminum electrolytic capacitors are used on tanks, fighter, aircraft, naval radar, missiles and helicopters wherever there is a need for rugged and compact energy storage
- IPDIA silicon capacitors are just being introduced into defense markets around the world.Besides the high temperature capability and insulation resistance qualities of the silicon caps the real benefits of miniaturization are just being discovered. The possibility of embedding all the IC support passives like capacitors , resistors and diodes into the silicon die has already been exploited in cellular telephone and "smart pill" applications.

TURBINE POWER
As representatives for ANF-Industrie, Voith, and Turbomeca Allied International pioneered the market for French made High Speed Rail equipment in the United States when we sold the ANF gas turbine powerd RTG to Amtrak. Owing to the abandonment of the rail market by the US licensee, Rohr Industries , only 11 Turboliner trainsets were ever delivered. There are currently two or three refurbished trainsets in storage in the USA. The Allied team which includes Jerome Pier who was in charge of the Rohr RTL production at Rohr and Bernard Watier who was in charge of ground turbines at Turbomeca are prepared to assist any railroads interested in utilizing this equipment.
ACOUSTICS
Allied supplied special mufflers for the ACELA braking systems to enable them to meet FRA noise requirements. Allied has also worked on noise programs for railway equipment with Alstom and FIAT in the past.
CAPACITORS
SIC-SAFCO aluminum electrolytic capacitors are used extensively for energy storage by all the major transit car manufacturers.
Eurofarad and Firadec manufacture specialty capcitors for signalling and train control.

RAILWAY CERAMIC SECURITY CAPACITORS
The two main failure modes which can affect capacitors over their life time and endanger an
electronic circuits operation are open circuit and short circuit.While short circuits are generally easily detected, open circuits however can be extremely difficult.This failure mode can also be dangerous because in this case the capacitor no longer assures its function.In certain equipment such as security systems for automatic pilot it is necessary to be able to detect any
change in the capacitor which suggests that the capacitor could become open circuit. The standard NFF 62-102, which applies to signalling equipment for rail networks, requires the use of "controllable" capacitors terminal security capacitors are specially designed to control any deterioration in their own performance which could suggest a tendency towards an open circuit during the life cycle of the equipment concerned. Their internal configuration (crossed Electrodes) with 2 terminals for each polarity assures that the capacitor will continue to
function if one of the terminals looses contact. This also permits the equipment to detect the anomaly so preventive maintenance can take place. They can also avoid problems related to short circuits cracks caused when soldering which makes this range of components
the most reliable on the market today. This range (see data sheet attached) is composed of:
- NPO (Type 1) capacitors for applications requiring precise and stable capacitance values
- 2C1 or X7R (Type 2) capacitors where high capacitance values are necessary
These capacitors are designed for surface mount use and can be mounted as follows:
- Directly on the PCB
- Using mini ribbon terminals which absorb thermo mechanical constraints when soldering
and in operation so guaranteeing an even higher level of reliability.

FANS
Honeywell LMB brushless DC motors have been supplied to raolroads to replace older more labor intensive Brush DC ventilating motors, saving the railroads significant maintenace costs in the long run.
SLIDES
Chambrelan Telescopic slides are used for mounting electrical equipment and battery storage in subway and passenger coaches. Chambrelan linear guide rails support passenger doors. |
